The Spa is named after the Emperor Caracalla who opened in 217AD one of the largest and most beautiful baths that Rome had ever seen. During 300 years the romans could enjoy the facilities with their rich interior: floors paved with mosaics and marble, walls gilded with stucco works.

As Caracalla baths have achieved fame as the most exclusive and luxurious ever seen, Caracala Spa at La Cala Resort aims to carry on the tradition.

The natural features of the La Cala terrain have been used to challenging effect by the renowned golf course architect, Cabell B. Robinson. The three courses are carefully maintained to ensure they are playable all year round. The North Course (now renamed Campo America) is perhaps more difficult than the shorter South (Campo Asia) but both demand great accuracy from the tee and careful club selection.

Meanwhile, the third golf course, Campo Europa, uses the River Ojen in making the course distinctive. The layout allows for plenty of water hazards. All three offer different challenges to all levels of golfers and demand good course management in addition to a wide variety of shots.
